I can help you. . .

. . .as soon as I'm done with this spreadsheet.

One of my favorite Dilbert cartoons has one cubicle worker asking his neighbor, "How did we look busy before computers?"

If you have run out of new ways to look busy, try this. You can even tell your boss that you're working on a complex spreadsheet and can't be disturbed or else it will all come apart--and not be lying.

But seriously--how did we look busy before computers?

As Fickett once told me, always look up and when someone comes by go 59, 60, 63 oh crap you made me miss my count. Then they will move on never knowing what you were counting.

  2. Well, that certainly explains a lot of the stuff that never got done at the Foolies. . .except that Vinkman explained the same strategy to me. Whenever I did it, I counted to myself all the better places I could be right now.
